He Served As A Corporal In The Regiment Of Colonel John Cocke And In The Company Commanded By Captain John Dalton. This Unit Did See Service At The Battle Of New Orleans. From The Book "Tennesseans In The War Of 1812". In 1830 William Married Mary Elizabeth Dickerson In Sumner County, Tennessee. William And Elizabeth Had Eight Children, Three Daughters And Five Sons. William And Elizabeth Lived In Union County Until Their Death. William Cowan On February 22, 1879 And Elizabeth On June 22, 1868.
